Whimsy and Waves

It's April Already?!

How is it April already? I don’t know about you, but the days are speeding on. I feel like I’m behind on everything!

It’s been a busy few months so far.  In February, I was excited to have my first solo exhibition at Ashwell and Barrie Optician in Bishop’s Stortford. Any artist/photographer can have the wall for a whole month. It’s one of the only places in Stortford that doesn’t charge to show your work, so it’s well worth checking out Artwall if you are looking to exhibit. I sold my largest painting, the big wave…what a boost!

Then in March I was lucky enough to secure the artwall at Cass Art in Hampstead, London. Exhibiting is such a thrilling experience! Even though the admin and the prep is quite intensive, it’s still totally worth it, even if just to see your mum go ape to see all of your artwork in one go :-). She bought most of the family to this one, what a hoot it was to have them all visit!

My first big theme for 2021 was floral whimsies, and my second theme has focused on waves and the ocean. It’s been quite a departure from florals, and pretty hard work if I’m honest. I’ve been in research mode, following lots of online workshops and courses in order to get better at painting. And now that I’ve finished the oceans (which I’ll pop on Etsy at some point), I’m onto the next subject!

I’ve recently started painting with oils and portraits. I entered the Bishop’s Stortford Art Society AGM portrait competition last month with an oil portrait of my dad, and I won! I couldn’t believe it. I may have had a teeny cry in the car home, it was my first prize and a big moment. 🙂

That’s it for now, thank you so much for getting this far down the page 🙂 Now that I have a personal blog it feels a bit self indulgent, but who’s gonna toot my horn if not me??

Have a wonderful week, I appreciate every one of you. 🙂

x

Gabrielle
