Gabrielle Vickery Art
This is my second ‘indirect’ oil painting. Indirect painting means creating an underpainting in one color first and then layering paint in color. The underpainting can be done in black-and-white called grisaille, in green tones or in warm browns.
I’m in my first month on the @milanartinstitute Art Mastery course. This painting started with the lightest lights, then a super dark layer, then mid tones and lastly opaque highlights. I’m going to be honest and say I thought I would find these challenges fairly easy, but instead I’m finding them super hard! I don’t paint landscapes from life or photos in general, my florals are from my imagination, so this is all new to me! Let me know what you think on Instagram, I’d really love to know.
